Hard Disk suddenly stopped working & Got Error message “hard disk error”

When you connect your hard disk to the system, have you got "hard disk error" message at boot screen? If yes then please read the full article, if not then you must have to read the article to avoid these errors in future. Whenever you found “Hard Disk Error” usually in this case system detects the hard disk in the bios but the capacity shown is zero. It is often because the BIOS cannot find the hard disk's boot sectors and master boot record on the drive. The error message indicates that there is error due to either bad sectors or physical damage on the hard disk.

To resolve the error message, Use Chkdsk command which can repair problems related to bad sectors & damage on the hard disk.

Run Chkdsk command from My Computer:

Open My Computer then right-click the hard disk that you want to check.

Click Properties after that click Tools.

Under Error-checking, click Check Now. A dialog box will appear which shows the following three Check disk options:

1. If you want to run Chkdsk in read-only mode, click on Start button.
2. If you want to repair errors without scanning the volume for bad sectors, select the automatically fix file system errors check box, and then click on Start button.
3. If you want to repair errors, locate bad sectors, and recover readable information, select the Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors check box, and then click on start button.

Choose one of the appropriate options from above mentioned procedures.
When Chkdsk has finished, it reported following table lists with the exit codes:

0- No errors found.
1- Errors found and fixed.
2- Cleanup was not performed because /f was not specified.
3- Could not check the disk, errors could not be fixed.

The error codes 0, 1 means the error is solved. If Error code 2, 3 is reported, it means the error will not solved by Chkdsk command. In that case your drive must be severely damaged or your hard disk must be crashed. There is also two cases whether your data can be recoverable with the help of hard disk recovery software or you need to go for any data recovery services company to recover it.

In first case it might be possible that your hard disk not physically crashed in that case any hard disk recovery software will easily recover your data but your need to pay something for it but very cheaper in comparison of data recovery services.

In second case if your hard disk is physically crashed then there is no data recovery software available to recover your data you have to send your drive to any good data recovery services Company and it’s quite expensive.
