The folder, drive, file, directory of a computer is the place where data is stored and we can access when we needed. Here I am describing the error which is related to these factors & very important because we used these factors on daily basis to store our important data. I am sharing my knowledge on the below error message as much I have:
</drive>:<folder> is not accessible. The file or directory is corrupted or unreadable.
If you have any other views on this error or have any experience with this error. Please share it in the comments.
This error message occurs due to several reasons such as a poor data cable connection, the file, folder or file system index (Master File Table [MFT] get corrupt or File Allocation Table [FAT]) is damaged or the data on the hard disk is corrupted.
First make sure that the data cable is plugged in all the way at all connectors and that there is no gap between the cable and connectors.
Run the Chkdsk utility. Chkdsk utility is fairly simple and requires only 3 simple steps from your side to repair the damaged file, folder or file system index :
1. First Click on Start, and then click Run.
2. In the box, type chkdsk /f <drive>:, where <drive> is the letter of the drive on which the damaged file, folder or file system index exists.
3. After that Click OK button.
WARNING: Before running Chkdsk you should have a full backup of your hard disk because when Chkdsk attempts to repair the damage, data loss can occur. Microsoft does not recommend running Chkdsk unless you have full backup of your hard disk.
If your hard disk is physically okay, then the problem is only that the data on the hard disk get corrupted. Only Third party hard disk recovery tools might be able to help with that if you need to try to recover data from it. Stellar Hard Disk Recovery software is really good & worth to be used at first place, it does not require any backup copy to recover corrupt data & takes a very little time as compare to any other hard disk recovery software. It supports all Os platforms such as Windows, Mac, Unix, Linux, Novell etc & supports all latest versions of all Os as well.
